45 Years of Helping People Change Careers - Computeach Looks to the Future

Computeach, one of the country's leading IT skills training providers, is celebrating its 45th anniversary and is looking to carry on for at least another 45 years.

(PRWeb UK) 7 July 2009 -- Computeach, one of the country's leading IT skills training providers, is celebrating its 45th anniversary and is looking to carry on for at least another 45 years.

Computeach pioneered IT training through distance learning in the UK and has watched as the industry has grown into a multi-million pound business, training and supporting over 100,000 people since its launch in 1964. "It's wonderful that we have reached such a momentous milestone in our history and we are still regarded as one of the premiere training organisations for IT skills in the UK," says Computeach managing director Karl Parkinson. "I'm exceptionally proud of everyone involved, not just our fabulous tutors and support teams, but the students as well. They've all contributed enormously to make Computeach the success story that it is today," he adds.

Computeach was the very first independent IT training company in the UK and was founded in 1964 by George Parkinson. Before leaving the Army, George Parkinson spent time studying at the University of Exeter to train as a lecturer for the Army Bureau of Current Affairs. That training introduced George to some of the fundamentals of distance learning - a methodology that was later to become the foundation upon which the Computeach learning system would be built. When he established Computeach the computer industry was still in its infancy but George had the foresight to realise how important IT skills would be to the workforce of the future. Computeach were one of the first organisations to introduce distance learning programmes for computer courses and the rest, as they say, is history.

"Many companies start to take their foot off the gas after such a long time and become set in their ways," says Karl Parkinson. "At Computeach we have a different ethos and are constantly looking for new and better ways to deliver the very best IT skills and training to our students. Our students today are much more computer literate than in previous times, so the challenge is to deliver courses that push their development potential to the limit and give them the skills they need to forge a successful career in a constantly evolving industry," he adds.

In 2005, Computeach became a Microsoft Gold Certified partner for Learning Solutions, the first distance learning provider to achieve this accolade. The company has also picked up a plethora of industry awards and established highly successful partnerships with some of the largest companies in the UK. Computeach also has a strong influence over the development of distance learning and is a member of The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). CompTIA is the leading association representing the international technology community. Its goal is to provide a unified voice for the industry and to advance industry growth through standards, professional competence, education and business solutions - aims and goals that are shared by Computeach.

"Our aim now is to continue to build on the foundations of the last 45 years and to maintain our position as a market leader in the delivery of IT skills training," says Karl. "With such a phenomenal team behind me, I'm confident that Computeach will continue to be one of the most successful skills providers in the UK, encourage more people to retrain and enter into an industry that has huge potential for career development and hopefully provide a model for other companies to aspire to as well," he concludes.
