Worthing, UK (PRWEB UK) 14 November 2012
The UK’s leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, Life Line Screening, is joining the effort to focus on conditions impacting men and raise awareness on men’s health for Movember.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men. According to recent statistics provided by Cancer Research UK, 40,841 UK men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009. In the year 2010, 10,721 men in the UK died from the disease.
Another common condition impacting men’s health is diabetes. The UK is currently experiencing a large increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes. Between 1996 and 2012, diabetes diagnoses have risen from 1.4 million to 2.9 million. By the year 2025, the UK’s leading diabetes charity, Diabetes UK, estimates that five million people will have the disease, linking this increase to unhealthy lifestyles and lack of awareness of associated risk factors.
The staff at Life Line Screening UK are actively supporting men’s health awareness and prevention through Movember, the global campaign in which men register to grow moustaches and raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. Five male employees based at the head office in Worthing, West Sussex are currently nurturing moustaches as part of this month-long initiative.
Although Life Line Screening does not offer prostate cancer screenings, it does offer diabetes screenings. The UK company is doing its part to increase overall well-being by offering preventive health screenings for individuals at risk for health conditions that include diabetes, heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis and more.
Join the effort in raising men’s health awareness today. With the combination of awareness and prevention, the number of people impacted by these diseases can be lowered.
