The decision to incorporate non-toxic Antifreeze into its range was customer-led as ReAgent Sales Manager Michael Gould explains, “We were getting a lot of enquiries from people who needed to use Antifreeze in environments where the presence of poisonous chemicals could pose serious health concerns. For example, any processes which involve food production and preparation must avoid the use of substances containing known toxins. Non-toxic Antifreeze is used in the food industry for cooling systems of chiller cabinets, cold rooms, refrigeration units and walk-in refrigerators as it presents no health threats.”
The product is also popular with the boating fraternity who favour it over traditional ‘blue’ Antifreeze when preparing to ‘winter’ their vessels. The ‘wintering’ process involves the removal of all water from the various onboard systems. Non-toxic Antifreeze is then used to replace the water to ensure that freezing is prevented during the cold winter months.
In spring, the non-toxic Antifreeze is drained from the various systems to remove the bulk of the product. The systems can then be safely flushed through to lake, river, canal or stream as any residual Antifreeze in the waste water is safe to release without causing harm to aquatic organisms.
