International law firm Harney Westwood & Riegels is pleased to announce the promotions of Margarita Hadjitofi and Simon Hudd, who have become partners with effect from 1 January 2013. Both specialists in corporate and finance transactions, Margarita is based in the Cypriot office while Simon is in London.
Margarita practices corporate law and specialises in joint ventures, reconstructions, mergers and acquisitions. She has been instrumental in a number of complex transactions including serving as counsel to Valinor Public Limited in connection with its initial public offering, admission to trading and official listing on the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Prior to joining Harneys Margarita was employed by a major bank and law firm in Cyprus.
Simon, who also leads the firm’s Russia and CIS group, specialises in British Virgin Islands law and regularly advises on corporate transactions, structured and asset finance, project and acquisition finance, Islamic Finance and capital markets. Simon also advises on Cayman Islands law. Simon recently provided BVI law advice to Finstar Group on the strategic disposal of Finstar’s majority stake in the Rive Gauche Group to Elshtere Ltd. which was a major transaction in the Russian retail and luxury goods market.
Both Margarita and Simon were also instrumental in providing counsel on the recent sale and purchase of 50.1% of the shares in Euroset, Russia’s largest mobile communications retailers, in a US $1.2bn sale transaction.
