Gateshead, UK (PRWEB UK) 12 January 2013
The third quarter of 2012 saw a record number of new company formations in Gateshead, according to recently released research by company formation specialists Duport.co.uk.
This figure is the highest for any third quarter on record for the town, and also represents an 11% rise on the same period in 2011.
The rise in company formation could be due to growing business confidence as a result of new developments in the area. The 21 hectare Baltic Business Quarter is currently under construction, and will deliver 1.5 million square feet of urban office space when completed. Work has just completed on the Northern Design Centre, offering 60,000sq ft of purpose-built office space for startup, small and expanding companies together with designated creativity, exhibition and research areas.
A number of projects have also been completed on Gateshead’s regenerated waterfront. Further developments will include hotels, residential apartments, restaurants and cafes, retail units, a cinema, and 229 car parking spaces.
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:
“With so much new development, Gateshead is an exciting place for business startups right now. I am not surprised we have seen a record number of new company registrations in the third quarter of 2012 - they will almost certainly benefit from the many projects that are ongoing in the town.”
