(PRWEB UK) 16 January 2013
Addressing the conference audience of senior manufacturing executives from across the UK will be keynote speakers, including Shadow Chancellor, the Rt Hon Ed Balls MP, together with the former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Heseltine, who recently published a major review of economic growth proposals.
They will be joined by Roland Aurich, Chief Executive of Siemens UK and Jim O’Neill, Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Later in the day the Business Secretary, the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, will be guest speaker at the EEF Manufacturers’ Dinner.
The event will be chaired by Channel 4 News’ Krishnan Guru-Murthy and provide key insight, analysis and debate into the challenges facing manufacturers. There will be panel discussions and a choice of best practice workshops, led by exemplary businesses, which will give practical business performance advice for those attending on topics such as green investment, managing global supply chains, skills, innovation and exports to emerging markets.
Terry Scuoler, EEF Chief Executive, said: “This powerful gathering of UK manufacturing leaders will remind policymakers that they must take the same single-minded approach to growth promotion as they are applying to deficit reduction. Timed just ahead of the budget, the conference will call for bold, joined-up action to ensure that the UK economy moves out of the doldrums by taking full advantage of our industrial capabilities.”
Andy Hart, Lombard’s Interim Managing Director, said: "Supporting the UK manufacturing sector is important to us, and we are therefore delighted to again sponsor the EEF’s National Conference. Over the past few years we have been working closely with EEF and other manufacturing stakeholders to help raise awareness of the importance of increasing capital investment in the sector. This year’s Conference theme – The Route to Growth – provides a great platform to broaden this campaign.”
The conference, sponsored by Lombard and delivered in partnership with JAM Recruitment and The Manufacturer, will take place in the heart of Westminster at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, followed by dinner at the Dorchester Hotel.
