David Lloyd Leisure is due to unveil its second David Lloyd Studio on the high street in Winchester on February 1, offering a flexible way to exercise and stay healthy with the expertise of Europe’s premier health, sport and leisure group.
The new studio has no membership fees and services planned include one-to-one and group personal training, physiotherapy, a choice of exercise classes and running clubs as well as David Lloyd Leisure's weight loss programme, Lose & Shape Up.
The aim is to give time-pressed customers of all fitness levels easy access to exercise with expert support as part of their daily routine - in the first initiative of its kind by a major health and fitness operator in the UK.
The group is investing £500,000 in three initial sites and opened its first studio in Putney, South West London in October, 2012.
Services, with ease of online booking, include:
- Personal Training: Highly qualified PTs (to *REPs registered instructor Level 3) to support clients individually in achieving their fitness goals;
- Group training: Encouraging clients to get motivated by joining others with similar goals in a small training group;
- Lose & Shape Up: A 12-week specialist course, including nutritional guidance, to help clients lose weight via a 'whole body' approach;
- Exercise classes: High-energy circuit or TRX classes for different levels of ability;
- Running clubs: Catering for all abilities with routes that start and end at the studio;
- Physiotherapy: a range of specialist recovery and rehabilitation services.
David Lloyd Studios, which typically cover between 1,500 sqft and 2,500 sqft, offer a retail area with sports and nutritional products for sale, including exercise equipment, healthy snacks and supplements.
Hazel Geary, David Lloyd Leisure’s product development director, commented: "We are very proud to open our second David Lloyd Studio in Winchester, an exciting, innovative concept designed to offer David Lloyd Leisure's services and expertise in a flexible, accessible format that makes it as easy as possible for clients to achieve their health and fitness goals.
"With the ever-increasing demands of today's busy world, we recognise that it can be incredibly difficult for people to make time for regular exercise, but we know how essential this is for their long-term health. David Lloyd Studio Winchester will enable the local community to slot fitness into their daily routines, whether it's during a shopping trip or on the way back from the school run, and with no membership fee required."
She added: "We are also delighted that our investment in David Lloyd Studio Winchester will help to boost the local economy and enhance the vitality and viability of the town centre."
