Asons Solicitors Warn of Industrial Disease After Widow of Worker Who Died of Asbestosis Receive Compensation
Bolton, UK (PRWEB UK) 15 October 2013 -- John Cuss, who died at the age of 73, claimed he had been exposed to asbestos while employed at Castlemead power station, between 1961 and 1967. His work involved repairing pipes and pumps, often covered in asbestos sheets. (1)
Mr Cuss died 2 years after he was diagnosed with asbestosis. Also known as fibrosis, Asbestosis is an industrial disease caused by exposure to the hazardous material. (1)
According to the BBC News, the company belonging to Mr Cuss’ employers no longer exists, but its successor, Magnox Limited, has accepted liability, agreeing to pay the asbestosis compensation for Mr Cuss’ “pain and suffering”. (1)
As reported by the BBC News, a spokesman for Magnox, stated:
“Castlemead power station was not owned or operated by Magnox Limited nor were Magnox Limited Mr Cuss's employer.
"However, we are the successor organisation to Mr Cuss's former employer, the Central Electricity Generating Board.
"We are saddened about the death of Mr Cuss and our thoughts are with his family." (1)
Commenting on the news, Thomas Fairclough, Executive at Asons Solicitors, said that:
“Asbestosis is an industrial disease, caused almost exclusively through the inhalation of asbestos fibres and dust.
“Unfortunately, asbestosis symptoms may not appear until 10 to 20 years after asbestos exposure. I strongly feel that no person should suffer because of the effects of their profession, and that their families should be fully compensated. .
“Those who are experiencing the same working conditions, or have been suffering from lung cancer after years spent in an asbestos-contaminated working environment, should not hesitate to make industrial disease claims.”
Asons Solicitors have a dedicated team of industrial disease specialists, dealing with cases of asbestos related diseases; giving people legal advice, particularly in the area of mesothelioma claims. Exposure to asbestos can be deadly, and Asons urge anyone who feels they may have been exposed to asbestos fibres to consult their GP immediately for a consultation, and contact an industrial disease specialist for legal representation.
Asons Solicitors suggest that if someone would like to learn more about the industrial disease compensation process, or if they would like to better understand the condition, that information is available at http://www.asons.co.uk, or via an expert helpline on 01204 521 133
