Asons Comment on Scottish Dentist Accused of Dental Malpractice
Bolton, UK (PRWEB UK) 16 October 2013 -- George Campbell, the owner of dental chain All 1 Smile, is facing serious complaints of alleged dental misconduct.. The misdemeanors that were alleged to have taken place, as reported by the BBC, included performing unwarranted procedures on patients, and allowing dental work to be carried out by unqualified staff (1).
According to the BBC, The General Dental Council became concerned after consultants from Glasgow Dental Hospital, and Albion Clinic in Glasgow, reported suspicions of poor dental care after 19 patients were referred to them from Mr Campbell’s practice (1). Alleged claims made against Mr Campbell include - incidents of surgical errors, misdiagnosis of dental diseases, and poor standards of care (1).
Speaking on the allegations, Suzanne Yates from Asons Solicitors, who specialise in Dental Negligence Claims said:
“We have had a growing number of claims being filed against dental professionals, for damage caused as a result of poor care. Dentists have the same responsibilities as doctors, yet the public are often unaware that dental negligence is a form of medical negligence, and that a claim can potentially be made.”
As reported by the BBC, George Campbell denies all the allegations made against him, and his surgeries in Glasgow, East Kilbride, Greenock, Cumbernauld, Hamilton and Kilmarnock. To date, the General Dental Council are reviewing complaints in relation to over 30 patients, which could result in him facing a permanent ban from dentistry (1).
Ms Yates continued to say:
“We know better than most how the poor practice of dental standards can lead to devastating repercussions. It is a terrible shame that so many patients allegedly faced poor care, before the consultant was approached by the GDC.
Those receiving dental negligence compensation are often affected by more than just the physical consequences of poor treatment; sub-standard care can be emotionally damaging, leaving patients suffering from anxiety and stress, often with lasting psychological consequences. For this reason, it is very important that anyone affected by such events contacts a solicitor, not only to be compensated for the damage caused, but to stop it from happening to anyone else.”
Although in this case it is yet to be discovered if Mr Campbell is guilty, Asons Solicitors offer free advice to anyone who feels they have been affected by similar instances of poor dental care.
