The Price of Germs: Sick Days Cost Businesses Over £29 Billion a Year
London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 16 October 2013 -- Businesses are paying for the spread of germs in the workplace . . . in the form cold, hard cash. Annually, it’s costing companies over £29 billion a year to cover the cost of sick days taken by employees.
A recent study by the University of Arizona has shown that by mid-day, half of all commonly touched surfaces in a typical office – surfaces like door knobs, coffee pots, phones and tabletops – can become infected with the illness-causing germs. Charles Gerba, one of the lead researchers, explained, “Most people think it's coughing and sneezing that spreads germs, but the number of objects you touch is incredible, especially in this push-button generation.”
The spread of germs is also a serious problem in schools where close to 6 million school days are missed in a year due to illnesses such as stomach bugs (norovirus), conjunctivitis, ear infections, sore throats and the common cold.
Additionally, when a child is sick, a parent has to take days off from work to care for them, placing another burden upon employers and their pocketbooks.
One solution, a remedy that has proved effective, is the application of a products use by Nano Tech Shield on the hard surfaces in office buildings and schools. This protective coating has the distinction of being chosen and certified by the NHS as a High Impact Innovation. Through its application, 99.99% of all viruses, bacteria and even Super Bugs are killed. It also forms an ultra-thin barrier that continues to repel germs, water and dirt.
Henry Mavin, the Operation Director of Nano Tech Shield, stated, “With the upcoming flu season around the corner, it’s vital that managers and directors take immediate measures to protect their employees and students as much as they can, and that’s where we can really help.
“With our product, business, schools and hospitals have been able to dramatically reduce the spread of infection-causing bacteria and viruses. It’s the perfect solution for Organisations seeking to help mitigate the burden that illnesses present.”
