“Dental Implants” - How to decide which implant system to have?
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 15 July 2013 -- There have been many improvements in the last thirty years and the following information might help you to make your decision. I will present three of the most pragmatic and viable solutions which are commonly accepted in practice.
If you and your dentist have agreed that you are suitable for dental implants then rest assured they represent the best way to recover your smile. Your life will be easier and more comfortable. However then there are lots of things to consider before choosing a specific treatment route. You first have to clarify your main concern, what do you want to achieve for your teeth? Once the dentist has carried out their assessment and investigations they will present you the options after which you need to conclude whether the ideal treatment option for your situation is in line with your concerns. There is also a consideration of your other dental needs and budget.
Advances in technology have opened up a whole marketplace offering innovative solutions at varying prices, and all with very different procedures and recovery times. Which one you opt for depends on what you want your implants to achieve and the way in which you want to achieve these goals.
Among the conventional dental implants, over the last 30 years, Straumann has been proven to be one of the most successful implant innovators.
Straumann provides a solution for individual missing teeth or full restorations. The root implant is the most common due to its effectiveness and the realistic end results, mimicking your original teeth in terms of both size and shape.
Because they are made using a specifically processed titanium which is readily accepted by the human body, healing times are dramatically reduced and success rates increased due to a quicker natural bonding process.
Another type of implant successfully used are the so called root shaped or tapered. A classic representative are the MAXI implants from Osteocare.
Maxi implants are not only quick and simple to fit, they are also among one of the more affordable options because they have been designed incorporating the best practices and research over a number of years rather than from the ground up. Designed to act as a replacement root onto which a crown or denture can be attached, the procedure is often carried out in just one visit allowing you to get back to your daily routine in a little over two hours. They can be easily placed in the extraction socket where the surrounding bone is healthy and mature so you can skip the need for separate surgical procedures (ie extraction and then separate implant placement 3 months later).
Because the procedure is less surgical, savings in surgery time are passed onto the patient, making them not only a convenient, quick and relatively pain-free procedure, but cost effective too.
Finally if you are missing all your teeth or if several of your teeth are deemed as a very questionable or poor then a very good option for you is the All-on-4 technique. This procedure provides a fixed solution to tooth loss which can be completed in just one day. The beauty of this procedure is that bone grating is rarely required prior to treatment, saving you anywhere from three to 12 months additional waiting time for the bone graft to be completed. Within a day all the failing teeth will be extracted, the implant will be placed and a very good looking prototype fixed bridge will be placed.
Having dental implants isn’t a decision to be taken lightly and patients should always do their research and speak extensively with their dentist prior to making a decision.
