Plymouth, Devon, UK (PRWEB UK) 22 August 2013
With GCSE level results to be announced this Thursday (22nd August), many young people in the city will be nervously awaiting their results and be considering what their options are for the future. Just last week the National Apprenticeship Service reported that 54% of young people are currently looking to apprenticeships to kick-start their careers, keen to make inroads into their chosen career with earning while they learn.+ The increasing popularity of apprenticeships is backed up by previous business research earlier this year which showed that employers ranked apprentices as the most employable of all young job applicants – even above those with degrees.++
Aiming to be at the forefront of helping young people decide on the right way forward for their future career, Skills Group is breaking new ground and has today launched an app called ‘Apprenticeships4me’ for smart phones, which will make it even easier for potential apprentices to have the very latest information on programmes and job opportunities at their fingertips.
The ‘Apprenticeships4me’ new app has been developed specifically for Skills Group and is designed to ensure that young people looking for apprenticeships in the Southwest can easily find the latest apprenticeship vacancies and are able to register their interest for any vacancy immediately. The app will allow constant updating and will also feature competitions, the latest, ‘How-To’ videos and up-to-date information from Skills Group on training and related matters.
Mark Boulting MD of Skills Group commented:
“We are very keen to break new ground in the training industry and reach out in every way we can to young people so that they can be well-informed about the huge number of apprentice opportunities open to them. This new app will make it really easy for all the latest information to be at young people’s fingertips at a very important time in their lives.”
The app was commissioned after marketing consultants for Skills Group Sigma Marketing & Advertising Ltd highlighted research which showed that 75% of young people have smart phones and are increasingly using them on the go for all aspects of their lives.
The app was designed and developed by Sadie Oliver of Plymouth-based SO Inspired (UK) Ltd, an online media company. Sadie said:
"I designed the app to make sure that it is as easy as possible for young people to realise their full potential by accessing Skills Group up-to-date vacancies."
