Laos P.D.R. Minister of Health joins Southeast Asia Healthcare Summit to discuss developments in private and public healthcare provision
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 14 April 2014 -- Minister H.E Professor Dr. Aksavang Vongvichit from the Ministry of Health, Laos will be among the speakers at the Summit held in Singapore on the 12th and 13th June this year. Representatives from the Ministries of Health in Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia will come together for a two-day conference packed with topical discussions and presentations from healthcare experts across Asia and around the world.
Important discussions will take place on Laos and Malaysia's changing healthcare sectors. Laos has taken significant steps in developing its economy in the past decade despite its low income status and 76.2 million Lao people (25.6%) living below the poverty line. In 1992, the Laos government permitted the opening of private hospitals in the country and a gradual increase in private hospitals now operate in Laos. However, there is still a lack of access to primary healthcare facilities.
Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council have recently expressed interest in building private hospitals in Vientiane within the next two years. MHTC will also be one of the number of exhibitors already in attendance at the conference including Ebix, Medifly and MTS. The conference will feature presentations and case studies from across the region, assessing new medical technologies in the Southeast Asia region.
Keynote speakers include Professor Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, Vice Minister from the Ministry of Health in Indonesia; Mr Zamane Bin Abdul Rahman, Director – Medical Device Authority from the Ministry of Health in Malaysia; Dr. Juan Lucas Rosas, Chief Medical Officer at the Asian Hospital and Medical Centre in Philippines.
With the success of the Africa Healthcare Summit 2014 in February, Oliver Kinross are expanding a series of healthcare summits focusing on regions with huge potential. The event will be in the presence of some of the region's most respected delegates — government officials from Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
With a number of speaking organisations from private and public hospitals, it is set to be a unmissable event in Healthcare for the Asia Pacific region.
