CWCS Managed Hosting Provides Enterprise Hosting for Nottingham City Council's new Citycard
Nottingham, UK (PRWEB UK) 25 April 2014 -- CWCS Managed Hosting today announced that it is working with Nottingham City Council to provide its powerful and reliable hosting infrastructure for Nottingham’s new Citycard Retail Network.
Nottingham has established itself as one of the best cities outside of London for public transport. As a progressive city, it has millions of pounds worth of investments continuing to pour in and the latest tram work extensions are due for completion later this year, which will prove to be a vast economic benefit for Nottingham.
With such an ambitious plan, there are various infrastructures needed to get in place. This led to Nottingham City Council approaching UK based hosting specialists CWCS Managed Hosting to supply a bank of dedicated servers in their data centres for their new Retail Network.
Citycard Nottingham is set to transform the way passengers purchase their public transport tickets. The new Smart Ticket system will enable people to buy tickets quickly and conveniently. Nottingham City Council is installing 88 new kiosks throughout the city’s transport network.
Councillor Jane Urquhart, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport, said: “These improvements will make travelling by public transport in Nottingham even better. By making tickets available more easily online and at kiosks and outlets in and around the city, public transport becomes a more appealing way to travel for even more people."
“These proposals come as Nottingham’s tram network is changing and expanding, with the tram operator preparing to introduce new self-serve ticket machines with easy-to-use screens. Located at tram stops, these enable passengers to buy tickets more quickly to board the city’s trams. Overall, these new developments will help to consolidate Nottingham’s public transport network as among the best in Europe.”
CWCS Managed Hosting boasts a range of hosting products and services including cloud servers, dedicated servers, web hosting and colocation. With two high-specification data centres in the UK, a reputation for providing supreme, reliable hosting and 24/7/365 support led to the decision.
Nottingham City Council took out a multiple dedicated server solution with CWCS Managed Hosting. Known for providing high quality, fast and reliable hosting, the solution will provide the backbone to the new system, ensuring it provides passengers with a fast and reliable service.
Karl Mendez, Managing Director at CWCS Managed Hosting added, “We're thrilled that Nottingham City Council chose CWCS Managed Hosting to host the computing power that will run the new Citycard network. It’s great to be involved with this exciting new development.
