Now Strike Archery launches unique archery gifts for Christmas
Chelmsford, Essex (PRWEB UK) 6 November 2015 -- Now Strike Archery today announced the launch of a range of special archery-themed gifts for the man or woman with everything.
Bow prices start at £330, depending on the specification (see images). All bows are ‘made to measure’ and can be customised with combinations of woods, examples include a belly made from lemonwood, a core from purpleheart, pau amarrillo or greenheart and a hickory back. Commissions can also be taken for yew bows, made from English yew (the same as those used 600 years ago at the Battle of Agincourt).
The artisan bowyers and fletchers at Now Strike Archery have been hand-making bows and arrows for over 50 years. All bows are completely unique and can be hydro dipped with a choice of 25,000 different designs from flags to football teams and even animal print!!
Thomas Mareschall, co-owner of Now Strike Archery commented, “Longbow archery is becoming incredibly popular as a hobby. Unlike rifles, shotguns or crossbows, longbows do not require a firearms licence. We use the best quality products for our bows; unlike many bowyers we do not use bamboo. All of our laminated bows are tillered to 32 inches and bend full compass. Each bow is fitted with hand carved horn nocks and a horn arrow-pass.“
Now Strike Archery consists of a team of artisan bowyers and fletchers that make bespoke hand-crafted longbows and arrows from their Essex workshop. A longbow is a type of bow that is roughly equal in length to the height of the user. It is so-called as it allows the archer a fairly long draw (at least to the jaw). Longbows were probably first used by the Germans or Scandinavians in about 500AD.
TV’s cult programme ‘Game of Thrones’ and film ‘The Hunger Games’ have recently helped popularise the sport of archery. The upcoming 2016 Avengers film features a superhero archer named Hawkeye played by Jeremy Renner. Celebrity archery fans include James Whale of BBC Essex, Shane Ritchie and historians Dan Snow and David Starkey.
As well as giving the gift of a longbow, readers can purchase a range of other gifts including vouchers for our experience days, bow and arrow making courses or a masterclass half-day session with one of the experts at Now Strike Archery.
The company also specialises in corporate events including team-building, exhibitions, country shows “with have go with a longbow” and living history.
