Meet Movinhand, a game changer in international recruitment
London (PRWEB UK) 17 November 2015 -- Movinhand is a new digital platform matching employers with skilled workers who are looking for fixed-term employment anywhere in the world. The platform currently focuses on the hospitality sector and will soon expand in other industries.
The platform launched on Monday 9 November and has already partnered with more than 100 prestigious hospitality employers across Europe, including Starwood, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn (Munich), SSP, Mitchells & Butlers and, last but not least, the food branch of Google UK! On top of that, more than 5,000 skilled job seekers have registered on the platform.
Far from being just another job board, Movinhand gives employers access to a vast talent pool worldwide, ready to take the big step abroad. The platform adds a much-needed holistic approach to recruiting, including:
- Audiovisual material and innovative communication channels that enable employers to screen, contact and rate applicants
- Virtual job offer letters signed by employers and successful applicants
- Mobility, relocation and short-stay immigration services for selected candidates
Movinhand aims to address the skills crisis facing several sectors worldwide. Many employers have a hard time finding the right candidates locally. Around one out of three employers report a lack of available or suitable candidates with key competencies such as language and IT skills.
Workers are increasingly looking for job opportunities abroad. Some are not able to find a job at home. Others just want to broaden their horizons. For all of them, short-term relocation can now be easy and financially rewarding:
- EU workers receive up to 30% pay rise when moving abroad
- Two out of three job seekers under 45 years old are able to use English in a professional context
- 64% of workers worldwide are looking for job opportunities overseas
Movinhand’s HR & Community Manager, Mr Alex Katsomitros, explains: “Contrary to conventional wisdom, there is no shortage of skilled labour worldwide but an increasing location mismatch between employers and workers. In other words, some skill sets are oversupplied in certain regions and undersupplied in other ones. Movinhand is on a mission to plug this gap. With youth unemployment at an all time high and technology bringing a revolution in the workplace, skilled labour should be as mobile as possible. Our objective is twofold: help businesses seize the opportunity of a global staffing model in those markets that remain stubbornly local and provide skilled workers with the opportunity to tear down borders. We believe in a global workforce.”
Meet Oscar, a Spanish-Peruvian Movinhander
Oscar is a 39-years-old Peruvian-Spanish chef, passionate about Peruvian food, the next big thing in ethnic cuisine. With five years of experience at a five-star hotel under his belt, he is currently on the lookout for new opportunities abroad, preferably in the UK. His goal is to develop himself professionally, improve his English and sharpen his team work and customer service skills.
Moving to another country is not a big worry, Oscar says: "Having left Peru twelve years ago to move to Spain, I have learnt how to assimilate myself in a foreign culture". Not surprisingly, given that apart from his mother tongue he speaks English, as well as a bit of Portuguese and French. Oscar's biggest dream? Manage his own team, a task he thinks includes "understanding customers' needs and paying attention to the details that make all the difference." A true perfectionist and avid globetrotter; in other words, a Movinhander.
