Paymentsense wins ‘UKTI Growth Business of the Year’ at National Business Awards
London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 15 November 2015 -- Paymentsense was named as the UKTI Growth Business of the Year at the 2015 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards gala dinner ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane. This prestigious award recognises an outstanding increase in sales, profit, market share, headcount and geographical expansion.
Paymentsense provides card payment solutions for small and medium businesses, which make it quick and easy to accept cards in-store, online or on the move.
The Lloyds Bank National Business Awards judges said: “Paymentsense has opened up the possibility of winning a sizable chunk of a lucrative and very traditional market through its technologically innovative, sales focused and fleet of foot business model.”
George Karibian, co-founder of Paymentsense, said: “This is the sixth occasion that one of five companies I have co-founded becomes a National Business Award finalist. For Paymentsense to be recognised as a winner in the ‘Growth’ category is truly fantastic. It has been an incredible journey of disruptive growth, driven by a highly talented team of people.”
Jan Farrarons, co-founder of Paymentsense added: “Six years ago, we set out to disrupt the UK merchant acquiring industry. Today, we are the largest merchant service provider in Europe and over two thousand new businesses choose us every month for their card processing services. We look forward to continuing to scale our business in the UK and beyond.”
Dr Catherine Raines, CEO, UK Trade and Investment, said: “We are delighted to be able to present this award to Paymentsense, who embodied just what we were looking for in the ‘Growth Business of the Year’ category. Their entrepreneurial spirit and their focus on enabling UK businesses to scale both internationally and domestically through innovative payment solutions made them a very worthy winner.”
Earlier this year, Paymentsense was ranked 70th in The Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100, a list of the UK’s fastest-growing technology companies, for the second time. It also represents the seventh year running in which one of three companies founded by the Paymentsense directors was featured on the Tech 100.
Over 1200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians and media representatives gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel for the 14th annual National Business Awards. The awards were presented by Sky News’ Ian King and Poppy Trowbridge and welcomed former astronaut and second man on the moon, Buzz Aldrin as the headline speaker.
The Prime Minister opened proceedings at the ceremony with a message for this year’s finalists. He told the audience: “I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you on behalf of the whole country, for all that you’re doing to create jobs and growth in Britain.
“The awards recognise people who have the guts to strike out on their own, who have the tenacity to work hard for every deal and who have the innovation and vision that lets you grow your business and take new people on. Its people like you who are making this the most entrepreneurial and dynamic period in our country’s recent history. So thank you again for all you’re doing.”
