HTM01-05 is important! How not to break the law!
Birmingham (PRWEB UK) 1 February 2017 -- Being in the dental industry is getting increasingly expensive to keep up complying with conformity and regulations after the Health Technical Memorandum 01 – 05 was amended in 2013.
The ongoing effort by the UK and European legislation ensures that health environments, such as dental practices, progressively raise the quality of decontamination work in primary care, offering patients a safe place to be treated with minimal cross-contamination.
With this increase pressure on dentists and practice managers to manage the budgets as well as complying with regulations within the UK, it is mandatory when budgeting that equipment, in this instance keyboards and mice, are kept cheap and compatible with legislation. What any organisation doesn’t want is to be caught short at the last minute by having an inspection carried out and not having the right equipment – this will add pressure to find compliant equipment before the assessment or leave chance to a hefty fine.
Offering patients a safe environment to have medical practices carried out is what the HTM01-05 legislative is all about, and now it has introduced keyboards and mice into this list to reduce and cross-infection.
One place bacteria is going to grow is in-between keyboard keys and on mice, as this equipment is used before, during and after procedures take place. Even though this growth and spread is not visible, it gives a high risk on passing infections from patient to patient. HTM01-05 states that covers should be provided over a keyboard or should be replaced with “easy-clean” waterproof keyboards. Low cost strategies would be to wrap a keyboard in cling-film, a sort-of DIY job for practices who don’t want to invest into safer, medical equipment, but in the UK this could get a dental practice closed down as cling-film would not be moulded to the keyboard like an official keyboard cover would.
Wipeable, waterproof, medical grade keyboards are becoming more and more commonly known, with many companies jumping on the band wagon to sell a cheap, medical keyboard which would maybe last 6 months. Keyboard Specialists (KBS), however, work with dental practices, supply with in the NHS and work closely with manufactures to produce high quality, HTM01-05 compliant, easy to use medical keyboards and mice.
High protection is of the up most importance when researching into medical equipment and purchasing a medical grade keyboard can be difficult when getting the right balance between price and reliability. KBS offer the highest quality range of medical keyboards and mice at low cost, by doing this KBS can support dental practices and medical environments into purchasing equipment required without breaking the bank.
Brands such as Unotron, Accumed, Purekeys and Medigenic are all designed for medical and dental environments and these are produced to support each customer individually. With different designs and specifications, KBS provide a range which aids each and every customer. Brands such as Unotron are perfect for administration staff, as it looks and feels like a normal keyboard so there is no adjustment period to get used to typing on a flat keyboard, whereas Purekeys and Medigenic are manufactured with a completely flat surface so they are easier to clean than keyboards with raised keys. Silicon, plastic, wired or wireless – KBS stocks it all.
What really does the job is that all of KBS keyboards and peripherals are completely sealed so that no disinfectant can penetrate the surface and damage the unit with multiple ranges of keyboards being sealed in latex-free silicon, KBS can ensure that this equipment can withstand frequent and vigorous cleaning.
Approved to HTM01-05 standards and IP rated it can be assured that no particles can penetrate the keyboards and mice, with almost any cleaning method being approved.
KBS offer the best typing experience across the whole range of medical keyboards which are advertised and ensure these are a pleasure to use. Excellent value and compliance to the UK law goes hand-in-hand when purchasing any medical equipment from KBS with customer service also being very important to ensuring you make the right choice.
