Survey Reveals Telecom Operators Late to Recognize Role of Identity in Digital Transformation Plans
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB UK) 1 March 2017 -- UXP Systems, the leader in powering digital identity for operators, released today The State of Operator Transformation survey report which shares findings on the state of telecom transformation in 2016. The report highlights that while it continues to be a key priority in their strategic plans, operators admit that transformation is more difficult than originally planned and at least half have yet to initiate plans to enable digital service experiences for their users.
Over 2016, UXP Systems surveyed leading global operators from Europe, North America and the Middle East on their progress with the transition from traditional communication service providers (CSPs) to digital service providers (DSPs). They noted feeling the pressure of competition from Over-The-Top (OTT) providers but are finding their legacy B/OSS systems are preventing them from digitally transforming their businesses.
Operators ranked the top requirements for transforming to digital service experiences, placing the need to simplify user onboarding and enabling user self-care of services at the top of requirements. These CSPs also shared that the need to capture user-level interaction data for every individual user of their services, on all devices, is necessary to deliver truly personalized experiences. Existing B/OSS infrastructure are centered around accounts or devices, instead of users, causing significant issues in their ability to transform effectively.
“Focusing on identity-led processes will provide the digital service experience users demand including the ability to share access and entitlements, create personalized experiences and the ability to control their privacy at the user level,” said Jim MacDonald, CMO, UXP Systems. “We have met with many operators who started their transformation without considering the significance of digital identity and related processes, and this has been problematic to their progress."
