Haag-Streit UK provides slit lamp to CBBC TV series ‘Operation Ouch!’
Harlow, UK (PRWEB UK) 7 December 2017 -- Sam Laidlaw, HS-UK Product Manager, was approached by Maverick TV, the media production company behind the children’s show. The company requested the loan of the slit lamp for the filming of several episodes in series 6 of the double BAFTA award-winning programme.
HS-UK was happy to help and arranged for the slit lamp to be delivered to the Maverick TV production set. Sam Laidlaw was on-hand for the filming of various segments, assisting presenters, Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken, with the operation of the slit lamp and imaging device.
Episode 10 addressed the effects of the sphincter pupillae in the constriction of the pupil. Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken used the BQ 900 slit lamp to illuminate and magnify the eye. The IM900 imaging module was then utilised to capture the results. The episode aired on CBBC at 5:30pm on 22nd November. It is now available on the BBC iPlayer - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/cbbc/episode/b09j4qm0/operation-ouch-series-6-10-sensational-sphincters (‘Sphincter’ segment appears at 04:18-09:19).
The slit lamp was also used in the filming of a ‘LABS - Tears’ segment, in episode 12 of the series, which aired yesterday, 6th December 2017. This episode is also now available on the BBC iPlayer - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09hvw52/operation-ouch-series-6-12-tremendous-tears (‘LABS - Tears’ segment appears at 04:53-09:13).
Sam Laidlaw commented, “The BQ 900 LED slit lamp was ideal for these particular segments, due to its Haag-Streit world-class optics, and we were very happy to provide this equipment. ‘Operation Ouch!’ is an award-winning programme that educates children about medicine and biology in a fun and engaging way.”
