Research from First Rate Exchange Services has revealed that the eurozone is set to remain the most popular destination for UK travellers in 2010, with almost 22 million people intending to visit countries across the eurozone .

Post Office Travel Money research showed that the euro was its best-selling foreign currency last year - despite unfavourable foreign currency exchange rates against sterling, the euro accounted for 72 per cent of travel money sales at the Post Office. With recent research showing that 58 per cent of travellers intend to head to the region this year the euro looks set for another year on top of the travel money table.

In addition, the Post Office's Worldwide Holiday Cost Barometer travel money research has revealed a reduction in tourist prices in countries across the eurozone could make UK holidaymakers' foreign currency stretch further for UK tourists holidaying in the region this year.

For example, the Post Office travel money report found that prices for tourist items fell by 30 per cent in Spain, compared to 2009, with a cup of coffee down to £1.04 and a bottle of beer now costing £1.23, making it the destination in the eurozone where UK holidaymakers travel money will stretch furthest.
