Ephesoft announces commitment to Section 508 Disability Accessibility
Laguna Hills, CA (PRWEB UK) 12 July 2013 -- Ephesoft Inc., the leader in providing advanced cloud-ready capture solutions, announced today that its has completed the VPAT (Voluntary Product Assessment Template) per the US government's defined guidelines. The VPAT is the first step in demonstrating compliance to the 508 disability standards and is a self-certification step. Agencies review the VPAT themselves to determine its applicability in their environments. This shows Ephesoft's commitment to a stronger presence in the US Federal Government capture ecosystem. Similar regulations exist in the UK and throughout the European Community.
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that US federal agencies make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology.
Don Field, Ephesoft's CEO, remarked “Agencies can now feel confident that Ephesoft has demonstrated its commitment to meeting the 508 objectives and they are well-defined. These features extend beyond the federal workplace and our hope is that companies of all sizes can now benefit from enhanced accessibility. We’re pleased to work with our government-focused partners on further improving our products to continue to meet the Section 508 objectives.”
