Mercedes-Benz Lewis Hamilton wins Hungary Prand Prix, Reports L & L Automotive
Stevenage, London (PRWEB UK) 29 July 2013 -- It is Hamilton’s first win of the 2013 season. Hamilton won the race from the pole position, winning the Hungarian race for the fourth time. Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are now tied as the only four-time winners of the Hungary Grand Prix. Hamilton won last year’s race in Hungary in similar fashion, also from the pole.
This was a big, emotional win for Hamilton and the Mercedes AMG team. The victory in Hungary also tightens things up a bit in the standings for the Stevenage driver. While still in fourth place, it puts him 49 points behind leader, Sebastian Vettel. While it is a long shot, Hamilton still has his sights on a championship. According to a BBC Sports report, the victory has rejuvenated the driver and team. The reports quotes Hamilton as saying "We really had no idea we could do that well. The last 20 laps I was just managing my tyres and cruising.” The driver went on to add with a smile “I think you can say I was hungry (Hungary) for it today.”
The victory comes at a great time for Hamilton. It caps off three straight races where he has started on the pole and it comes at racing’s mid-summer break. The next race isn’t until August 25th. That is the date for the Belgian Grand Prix, a circuit where the driver also has had success.
Hamilton began karting in Stevenage at the age of six when his father bought him his first go kart. He attended The John Henry Newman School there. His backstory has received attention because it is said when he was just ten years old, he told McLaren team Principal Ron Dennis “I want to race for you someday.” It was just three years later that Mercedes-Benz and McLaren had him under their wings with the Young Driver Support Programme. In 2008 he won the Formula One Championship.
How much does Hamilton love Mercedes? He has been associated with the brand for seven years and was a Mercedes Stevenage customer even before driving for Mercedes AMG this year. He showed that affection following his victory on Sunday as he kissed his winning Mercedes before giving his team boss, Ross Brawn a big hug. He then recognised his crew by pointing them out individually during his celebration.
If you are looking for a new Mercedes for sale, you won’t find it from Lewis Hamilton. You can however find one at his hometown Stevenage Mercedes-Benz Dealer and their associated retailers in Bishops Stortford and Hertford. They are all part of the L & L Automotive Group, and they salute the 2013 Hungary Grand Prix winner.
