She who…wants to visit an Elephant sanctuary whilst in Thailand.
One of the most rewarding things you can do whilst traveling is volunteering in whatever way you feel comfortable with. For me, it was spending the day at an Elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand. If you are touring Thailand not only do I recommend that you visit this beautiful Thai town, but you must visit the Elephant Nature Park.
This park was founded by Lek Chailert, a remarkable woman who has had a love of Elephants since childhood when her Grandfather (a tribal healer) was given a baby elephant from a man whose life he had saved. Lek quickly learnt though that not all elephants were treated kindly and she witnessed the abuse and neglect (warning, this link shows harm to Elephants, but if you want to see the truth then please watch) these ‘pets’ received. Lek became an animal activist and eventually opened her sanctuary.
The Elephant nature Park is amazing, situated in the stunning Mae Taeng Valley is where you can find this family of Elephants. I had an incredible day washing the Elephants in the river, hand feeding them a ton of fruit and seeing a new born.
You do pay for this experience of course but all your money goes towards running the sanctuary.
I can’t pretend I’m a huge animal lover and that I wasn’t intimidated by these huge creatures whose call can be heard for miles and made the ground shake beneath my feet but I couldn’t recommended a more rewarding experience. They are big, but fascinating and powerful but gentle – you are just in awe!

She who… wants to Skydive in Australia
Byron Bay is without a doubt where you need to take that leap of faith. That first split second you push away from the plane really does take your breath away, but after that it’s almost like floating (with a lot of wind in your face). There’s no ‘butterflies in your tummy’ feeling, it’s just exhilarating!
Australia is vast and there will likely be a Skydiving organisation in each town, however (once you’ve got over the shock that you just fell out a plane) the view at Byron Bay is spectacular! It’s a fantastic mixture of land and sea with a beautiful strip of curving white sand in between, you truly feel like a bird looking (well falling – but that’s part of the fun) down at earth.
The team there are also awesome, they pick you up from your hotel (or in my case hostel, but hey I was backpacking), give you a warm welcome and briefing and make you as relaxed about the whole thing as possible and if you’re lucky they’ll even let you steer the parachute!
It was a fantastic experience, well worth every penny, I’m not going to lie to you, it isn’t cheap – but would you trust them if it was?
If you’re after the thrill factor entangled with the beauty of nature, then this one’s for you, have a look at Skydive Byron Bay.
HEALTH & BEAUTY
She who… doesn’t want to spend a fortune on hair products
This may well be a trick everybody already knows, but what’s wrong with putting it out there again (in case you missed it the first time maybe)?
Talcum Powder. It is a genius product for baby’s bums and women’s hair, it costs very little but lasts for ages. If you are like me and there are times when washing your hair seems like a mammoth effort when you know you will just be sat at your desk, in an office, on a business park then I swear, get out the Talcum Powder.
If your hair is slightly greasy and you don’t want to spend money on ‘dry shampoo’ that has suddenly become very popular, then Talcum Powder really does work, I have to say Johnsons Baby Powder is the best known brand out there. Shake a bit on your hands and rub around, then simply brush your hands through your hair – the easiest way is tip your head upside down and work from the scalp outwards, about 3 goes should do it (but please remember to look in the mirror before you walk out the door, there’s nothing worse than looking like you’ve gone grey, just make sure it’s all rubbed in).
It will cover you for the day and you can wash your hair that night when you aren’t feeling so lazy!
She who… is rubbish at painting nails
This is one quick simple trick, you’ll kick yourself if you haven’t always been doing this!
When applying nail varnish, before you get going – get a cotton bud and dip both ends in your nail varnish remover. This way, as you paint each nail you can use the cotton bud to wipe off any excess nail varnish that gets on your skin. It’s such a useful little tool if you’re like me and can’t quite manage to neatly paint your fingers and toes.
Check out ‘cl2425’ You Tube video, she has got this method down – and in a handy video for you to copy!
