Help North Yorkshire charities double donations with Localgiving.com's match fund campaign
London (PRWEB UK) 26 July 2013 -- Localgiving.com, the UK’s leading online platform for small charities and local community groups, and the Peter Sowerby Foundation are giving £12,000 to eligible local charities in North Yorkshire via a match fund campaign.
While many local groups have already taken advantage of double donations, others are struggling to get the word out to their communities about the opportunity offered by the match fund.
Readers can help by going to Localgiving.com and donating even a small amount to a charity or group near them. Localgiving.com is doubling monthly donations up to £20 a month for six months, adding an extra £120 to the total received by the charity. Single donations are doubled £-for-£ up to £20. Gift Aid adds even more, turning a single £20 donation into £45*!
There are still thousands of pounds available to be doubled, but the campaign only runs until 5pm on July 31, so time is limited!
Charities that have already benefited from the match fund in the past 10 days include:
The Principle Trust in Skipton which offers disadvantaged and deprived children in North Yorkshire the chance of a seaside holiday, has secured 30 donations, raising over £1,600, of which more than £800 comes from matches.
The Scarborough YMCA has raised nearly £900, almost half of which is from matched donations.
Jennyruth Workshop in Ripon, which helps people with learning disabilities to gain personal and work skills, is nearly £500 better off thanks to £240 matched by Localgiving.com.
Barrie Evason Founder of Jennyruth Workshop says: "We've only been on Localgiving.com a short while but the match fund has already helped us to raise vital funds for the group. If you're a small charity serving your local community, it makes perfect sense to take advantage of this opportunity."
