Glasgow, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 31 July 2014 -- Easyspace, one of the UK’s leading domain name provider and web hosting companies, has opened pre-registrations for the .London generic Top-Level Domain name (gTLD).
This marks the end of the priority phase in which London-based organisations and individual Londoners could apply and be given priority over other applications. Many of London’s property and entertainment businesses have submitted applications with nightlife.london and properties.london proving the most popular.
Now with ICANN accredited registrar Easyspace, individuals and organisations from outside the Capital can now pre-register the new .London domain name on a level pegging with London-based applicants for £39.99. For further details go to http://www.easyspace.com/london.
Anyone pre-registering the .London address with Easyspace will get a professional email package free for a year as part of their domain name package if they are successful.
Sarah Haran, managing director of Easyspace, said: “The launch of .London gets ever closer and the closing of the priority period marks another important step. As supporters of .London we believe it’s important to encourage people to use the domain name. By giving free email and huge discounts on website hosting, we hope Easyspace customers will be among the first to use .london to promote and grow their businesses online.”
Among the brands that have applied for .London domain names in the initial priority phase are Cath Kidston and ZSL London Zoo. London and Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation for London, is managing the process through a subsidiary company Dot London Domains Ltd.
Dot London will allocate names for those who applied in the initial priority period according to priority ranking during August. Domain names with a single applicant will be allocated first. An auction will decide who gets the domain name where there is more than one applicant in the same priority ranking.
Easyspace is part of one of the UK and Europe’s leading cloud companies iomart which owns and operates data centres at eight locations across the UK including the city of London.
